End of Recruitment
ICON7 closed to recruitment on  Monday 16th February, 2009,  with a total of 1528 patients, 8 more than our target.

January 2009

Recruitment Update

We now have over 1440 patients randomised to the trial, with September 2008 being our best month for recruitment so far, with 96 patients randomised. Thank you to all the sites for their hard work with recruiting patients into ICON7.

End of Recruitment

The last day on which patients may be randomised to ICON7 is Monday 16th February, 2009.  We recommend that informed consent for all patients currently in pre-screening is obtained 2 weeks prior to 16th February  to allow sufficient time for screening procedures to be carried out.

Sites and groups will not be able to randomise after the end of 16th  February 2009



June 2008

Recruitment Update

We now have over 800 patients randomised to the trial, with May 2008 being our best month for recruitment so far, with 88 patients randomised. Thank you to all the sites for their hard work with recruiting patients into ICON7.

First New Zealand Patient Randomised

We are pleased to announce that New Zealand open their first site on 07/04/2008, and had their first patient randomised on 16/04/08.

First Spanish Patient Randomised

We are pleased to announce that Spain randomised their first patient on 29/02/08.

First Scandinavian and Canadian Patients Randomised

We are pleased to announce that Denmark randomised their first patient on 27/06/07, Finland on 19/07/07, and Canada on 27/07/07.

ICON7 Open and recruiting in France and Germany

ICON7 is now open to recruitment in France and Germany, with the first patient being randomised in Germany on the 27/03/07.

UK Clinical Sites Update

In the UK, ICON7 is limited to a maximum of 50 Clinical Sites. All these sites have now been selected and are either open to recruitment or are in the process of applying for local approval.

Any other UK Clinical Sites which are interested in taking part in ICON7 may still register their interest through the website and if any spaces become available we will contact you immediately.


December 2006

First ICON7 Patient Randomised

The ICON7 Team is delighted to announce that the first patient has been entered into the ICON7 trial.

She was randomised on Monday 18th December at St James's University Hospital, Leeds.

This is a significant achievement and we would like to take this opportunity to thank every one who has been involved in setting up the ICON7 trial.

We now look forward to randomising more patients in the UK and opening the trial worldwide in early 2007.


November 2006

UK Institution and Investigator selection process begins

We are delighted to inform you that ICON7 has been approved by UK Central Ethics (London MREC) and the UK Regulatory Authority (MHRA).

We are now in a position to accredit our UK sites and start randomising patients into the trial.

A total of 50 UK centres have been contacted with COREC part C and password for the member’s area of the website to download all relevant documents.

September 2006

MRC ICON7 trial CTA approval of amendment

MHRA has accepted the application for amendment Clinical Trial Authorisation received on 25 August 2006.

MRC ICON7 trial COREC approval

London MREC reviewed the application and has given the favourable ethical opinion for the MRC ICON7 trial.

MRC ICON7 trial CTA approval

MHRA has accepted the application for Clinical Trial Authorisation to carry out a clinical trial of medicinal product (Bevacizumab).

ICON7 Launch Meeting Brunel Gallery

In July, MRC Clinical trials unit’s ICON7 team held it’s Launch Meeting at the Brunei Gallery, SOAS, Russell Square in London. Some 100 investigators, research nurses, trial coordinators and representatives from ROCHE and Patient group –Ovacome attended the 1 day event. The launch meeting featured a number of excellent speakers; Prof Max Parmar (Head of Cancer Division, MRC CTU), Dr Tim Perren (ICON7 Chief Investigator), Dr Fiona Collinson (ICON7 Trial Physician), Andrew Mazur and Sarah Beall (MRC CTU ICON7 team), Prof Gordon Jayson (ICON7 Translational Research subgroup Lead) and Dr Dan Stark (ICON7 QoL subgroup Lead). Electronic copies of the slides are available on the members area of our website.
