Opportunity at MRC CTU at UCL: Senior Lecturer in Trial Conduct Methodology

31 August 2017

Randomised controlled trials are the gold standard in generating evidence to improve healthcare. However, it is widely acknowledged that many aspects of trials could be more efficient and allow us to get faster results for patients and the public.

MRC CTU at UCL has made important contributions in clinical trial methodology. We are now seeking an experienced and motivated methodologist to expand our work in trial conduct and complement our efforts in design and analysis.

Areas of interest include:

  • How much data is enough in randomised controlled trials – and how do we know?
  • How can academic trials contribute effectively to regulatory submissions?
  • How should novel, adaptive designs be implemented efficiently?
  • How can we engage trial participants, and keep them engaged, in the trials they participate in?
  • How can we best use eHealth resources in clinical trials?
  • In collecting safety data, where is the balance between what is sufficient and what is necessary?

Details of the role:

  • Senior Lecturer in Trial Conduct Methodology (UCL grade 9, £54,240 - £58,978 p.a.)
  • Main purpose of the role: to develop and carry out clinical trial methodology research projects with the aim of improving the conduct of clinical trials, with a focus on the key areas identified above.
  • Full time
  • Closing date: 18 September 2017
