Stand Up to Cancer

Throughout September and October 2012, Cancer
Research UK and Channel 4 are encouraging everyone in the UK to get
involved in the Stand Up To Cancer
fundraising campaign.
Stand Up To Cancer is an established, and very
successful, initiative in the US, which brings together the
entertainment industry and the public to create awareness and build
public support for cancer research. Starting on the 15
October, Channel 4 will air a week of factual entertainment and
health programming that will culminate on Friday 19 October in a
night of live television that invites viewers to watch, laugh and
raise funds together, to accelerate groundbreaking research.
80% of the money raised will go towards early- and late-phase UK
clinical research.
The MRC CTU designs, develops and runs trials
in different types of cancer. Details of our cancer trials
currently open to recruitment are available on our cancer
research area page. If you think you may be eligible to
participate in one of our trials, please discuss this with your
doctor, or the health professional that sees you most often.
