London Hub for Trials Methodology Research
As well as conducting clinical studies, CTU
also develops methods to improve the design, conduct and analysis
of these studies. In 2008, the MRC awarded funding to the CTU to
host the MRC Clinical
Trials Unit (CTU) Hub for Trials Methodology Research to increase
this sort of activity. The CTU Hub is one of a network of 8 regional
Hubs.
The aim of the methodological work conducted
by the CTU Hub is to find solutions to problems we face in the
design, conduct and analysis of our trials and other studies. We
then apply these solutions in our ongoing and future studies in
order to improve their quality and reliability. This also
demonstrates to other researchers how to implement useful new
methods in their own studies.
We have 3 main areas of methodological
research:
Applied statistical
methodology
Trial conduct methodology
Meta-analysis methodology
